As this was my first time going, I heard many teachers tell me that it was an honour to go but did not truly believe them. That is, until I stepped one foot into the cemetery and saw hundreds of headstones with names of heroes. Cherished lives of people who fought for my freedom. Even though they do not know me. Standing in the cold, listening to the sounds of the guns going off, gave me the push in the right direction. I don’t want to stand around and watch the world hurt itself. I want to be like the soldiers – fight for freedom and create an inclusive, and loving world. They gave up so much for us and now it’s our turn. We must make a better world for the next generation. Once again, thank you for an amazing opportunity that helped me realize so much.
