The Jamie Lantz Student Reflection Award

An annual award recognizing the reflections of students who take part in the No Stone Left Alone Remembrance Program.

 

Background: The Jamie Lantz Student Reflection Award was established to recognize the meaningful reflections of students who participate in the No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation Remembrance Program, while honouring Jamie Lantz's longstanding contribution to NSLA.

Honouring Jamie Lantz: The Award is established in recognition of Jamie Lantz's steadfast commitment to No Stone Left Alone, his belief in its Mission and Vision before they were fully visible, and his early leadership in helping to build and shape the organization.

For more than 15 years, Jamie has demonstrated a quiet and consistent form of leadership grounded in dedication, service, humility, and respect for remembrance. Honouring him through the voices of students carries those qualities forward.

What the Award recognizes: Each year, the Award recognizes the student reflection that most meaningfully demonstrates the impact of participating in the Remembrance Program, an understanding of the service and sacrifice of Canada's veterans, a personal connection to the experience, and the responsibility of carrying the act of remembrance forward.

This is not an award for the strongest writer. It is an award for a genuine, thoughtful reflection. Submissions are considered in relation to the student's age and level of education.

The essentials

  • Open to all students who have participated in an NSLA Remembrance Program activity.

  • Reflections may be written, or recorded in the student's own voice.

  • Reflections must be submitted by January 15th of each year.

  • One student from each province receives a $100 educational award. One National Winner receives a $500 educational award, matched by the Purvis Family for a total of $1,000.

  • Awards support the student's education and are directed to an educational institution or purpose designated by their parent or guardian.
