Remembering Gwen Beasley

Gwen has been a proud volunteer with No Stone Left Alone for many years and we have valued her relationship with the Royal Canadian Legion and Poppy Fund. Gwen, you will be missed! Thank you for your service!

Gwendoline May Beasley (Underwood) 75, passed away peacefully while holding her daughter's hand on June 9th, 2018 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, AB. Gwen exhibited tremendous courage, strength, and hope throughout her battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She is survived by her 6 children Michael, Tiffany, Mark, Aj, Tanya, and Steven, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Gwen was born in Nottingham, England December 13, 1942 and immigrated to Canada in 1973. She was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a long time supporter of the Poppy Fund.

Throughout her life, Gwen was an eternal optimist who wore her heart on her sleeve. She was always willing to help a person in need and saw the best in everyone.

Gwen loved traveling and greatly enjoyed holidays. Hot, relaxing, sunny beach vacations were her favourite, but she was a good sport as her children walked her legs off in Europe, Florida and Victoria. Christmas  was a special holiday for Gwen; she enjoyed giving gifts and always made sure everyone had something under the tree. She loved baking and her butter tarts were a family favourite. In her spare time she also enjoyed crafting, sewing, shopping, playing darts and going to the casino to "eat dinner". Gwen was the happiest when she was spending time with her friends and family. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with toys, chocolate, and home-sewn gifts. Gwen was an incredible soul who will forever be missed. Her legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 25, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Kingsway Branch, 14339 50th St. NW. We ask those attending to please wear some green, as it was Gwen's favourite colour.
